About the Velocite Millennium. The indomitable.
It was designed to last effectively forever. As one of the very few 100% shot peened titanium frames, it is guaranteed to outlast any lesser frame, by a long margin. The warranty is lifetime, but the expected lifespan for the Velocite Millennium is 1000 years.
Design
The tubing shapes were carefully created to satisfy just two design param- eters: minimum weight at maximum strength. The downtube is an oversize 40mm diameter at the center section, multiple profile shaped tube.
The bottom bracket stiffness is enhanced by the oversize 33mm profile chainstays. To manage the weight penalty, we then tapered the chainstays down to just 18mm diameter. The Millennium will not flex around your every pedal stroke. The seat stays is where the tube size was minimized both to achieve the weight target and to help deliver the fabled titanium frame feel and comfort.
The seat tube accepts the standard 27.2mm seatpost, however even the seat tube is on oversize 32mm across with internal reinforcement at the seat tube insertion point to ensure life-long reliability. The oversize profile also creates an almost perfect balance at the bottom bracket - the heart of the frame. All tube profiles at the bottom bracket junction are between 32mm and 34mm in diameter. The oval profiled double butted top tube completes the symmetry. To enhance the resistance to lateral flexing of the frame, the oval section is oriented horizontally.
The hourglass shaped head tube is designed to accommodate a Campag- nolo standard internal sealed bearing headset (FSA Orbit C). We chose the internal headset system since this allowed us to use a larger diameter head tube than what is possible with the old style external cup headsets. The increased diameter of the head tube results in much greater stiffness compared to the more common designs. The other reason is that we wanted to save weight where it mattered. Internal bearing headsets save at least 100g of weight compared to normal high end external headset types.
Detailing
The braze-ons are bullet shaped, not squared off, and the bullet shaped caps are used at the end of the seat stays and chain stays. The dropout section is CNC machined out of solid titanium with extensive cutouts to minimize the weight and to enhance the already superior appearance of this high end frame.
Satin finish is more durable then even the hard enameled paint (very rare) or full polish. This means that the Velocite Millennium will look as good as new for a very, very long time.
Geometry
The geometry of the Velocite Millennium is based on the great long distance riding frames of the past and present. The 410mm chainstay lengths enhance the comfort, but the otherwise compact frame geometry still delivers the nimble but stable 1010mm wheelbase even at the size XL frame.
The head tube is slightly taller than is the norm for racing frames and therefore allows increased comfort over long distances.
