Design priorities

High performance in all weather and wind conditions: The higher, 90mm rear wheel profiles with a 50mm front wheel allow you to benefit from high profile wheels and still ride safely and confidently regardless of the wind conditions. You are less likely to be blown off the line, even when using aero bars and extensions.

Both tubular and clincher rim braking surfaces use ultra high temperature resins to eliminate heat damage, while the clincher rims also use patented extruded alloy inserts to provide unparalleled heat management for increased performance and safety during long descents.

Minimal weight while maintaining exceptional stiffness for the best power transfer, and with no rider weight limits:

Super light 6 layer UD and 3k high modulus carbon rims were used to make the Velocite Noir 50/90 some of the lightest wheels in their category. The 90mm rear wheel profile has significantly higher stiffness compared to lower profile rear wheels due to the greater spoke bracing angles, shorter spokes and inherently higher rim stiffness.

The smaller profile front rim, super light DT Swiss Aerolite spokes and alloy nipples minimise the rotational inertia. Rotational inertia is a significant factor during acceleration.

Optimal aerodynamic profile: The rim profiles follow the advanced teardrop shape and make use of internal nipples to eliminate turbulence at the spoke insertion points. The advanced teardrop rim shape offers good aerodynamic performance in varied conditions and wind yaw angles. Internal nipples are hidden from the air to capture even this slight aerodynamic advantage.

Highest quality hubs: Velocite Noir OS15 hubs with high grade hybrid ceramic bearings and oversize 15mm rear axle are used to deliver the best possible performance. All Velocite Noir wheels are handbuilt to exacting specifications by a specialist carbon wheel builder.

The special hybrid ceramic bearings use G3 silicon nitride ceramic ball bearings. The bearing races are quenched and tempered, vacuum degassed high carbon steel polished to a mirror. Even the grease is a special German Klueber brand grease, and of course these bearings use non-contact seals to virtually eliminate any bearing drag.

The front hub bearings are positioned to the very extremes of the hub body to deliver maximum stiffness and optimal loading for the bearings. The rear hub achieves the same thing by also using an oversize 15mm axle.
